So´ Karis ChangeMakers: Episode 3

Really honored to have Todd Belcore join me for this episode of So´ Karis ChangeMakers.

Todd is the Executive Director of a non-profit called Social Change that transforms lives, organizationsand systems via film, community capacity building, technical assistance, advocacy and legal representation.

Todd is also a Lecturer in Law at the University of Chicago Law School where he teaches a class entitled, “The New Jim Crow” and assists in resolving conflicts via mediation (resolving everything from small claims in the courts to claims of discrimination against Merrill Lynch).

To date, Todd has: led or assisted in efforts to pass 18 pieces of criminal justice reform and police and community relations legislation in IL and Missouri; provided legal assistance to over 1,000 men and women with records; trained over 1,000 attorneys, advocates, and community members nationwide on policy advocacy, rights and legal remedies; and, written various works relating to justice reform and access to opportunity that have been published in places like the HuffingtonPost and the White House blog.

As a result of Todd’s commitment to service, he has received 15 honors, including four national awards, ranging from the ABA’s National Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year to the White House’s Champion of Change.
