So´ Karis Changemakers: Episode 1

The very first So´ Karis Changemakers Podcast features one of my very favorite people, Mireya Fouche of the community organization One Heart One Soul.

The root of Mireya’s life work is purpose and community driven. Born and raised in Chicago, Mireya has first hand knowledge and experience of the social injustices facing our communities today. Through her own life experiences and fueled by her faith in Christ, Mireya launched the organization One Heart One Soul at age 27, building bridges within communities to raise awareness and eliminate misconceptions surrounding homelessness. Her passion for people has allowed her the opportunity of spearheading clothing drives collecting for thousands of homeless people seeking emergency shelter and hundreds of men formerly incarcerated.  In addition, the initiative Unspoken Words, a voice for homeless youth launched as a hope to give the homeless youth in Chicago a voice through art. She is currently co-building on a vision for the non-profit Monarch Thrift Shop whose focus is to help reduce recidivism through providing employment opportunities and job training for men who were formerly incarcerated.

Mireya has received awards such as Dr. King Drum Major Award and is a two time Global Award Nominee for the Epoch Awards. Despite her numerous accolades, Mireya believes her most notable accomplishment is being the mother to her beautiful Haitian-Mexican prince.
